Morningside College will present a Holiday Pops Concert with the Sioux City Symphony at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, June 28, in the Buhler Outdoor Performance Center, 3625 Garretson Ave., on the college’s campus.

The Sioux City Symphony will celebrate the Fourth of July holiday with a patriotic, outdoor summer concert that will conclude with a fireworks display.

The concert will include music by composers Bizet, Berlin, Tchaikovsky and John Philip Sousa.  There will be a tribute to military veterans and active service personnel, along with a handful of timeless classics. The symphony will be conducted by Ryan Haskins.

In the event of rain, the performance will move to Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave., on the Morningside campus.

The Betty Ling Tsang Fine Arts Series is named for the late Betty Ling Tsang, a 1940 Morningside College music graduate. It is designed to bring free, quality music and theatre performances to residents of the Sioux City area.

Other productions this summer include the children’s musical “Honk!” on July 18 and 19; the Lamb Caravan production “Snow White and the Missing Dwarfs” on July 25 and 26; and the Stephen Sondheim musical “Putting It Together: A Musical Review” on Aug. 8 and 9. All performances are free and open to the public.

Construction on the Morningside campus restricts parking near, and access to, the Buhler Outdoor Performance Center. Parking is available behind the Olsen Student Center on Peters Avenue, the Lewis Hall visitor lot, the Facilities Services lot along Garretson Avenue, the east portion of the Grace United Methodist Church lot and the Eppley Auditorium lot.
