Morningside College will host Caucus 101, an interactive workshop for new voters and first-time caucus goers, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, in the Yockey Family Community Room in the Olsen Student Center, 3609 Peters Ave.

The workshop, which is free and open to the public, will answer the following questions: What is a caucus?  What are differences between the Democratic and Republican caucuses? When and where do I go to caucus? How does a caucus work? What should I expect when I participate in the 2016 caucuses?

The event will include both Republican and Democratic caucus simulations. Participants will choose the caucus in which they want to participate.

Session leaders will be Dr. Valerie Hennings, interim director of the Col. Bud Day Center for Civic Engagement at Morningside, and Theresa Weaver-Basye, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Sioux City.

Caucus 101 is a community collaboration led by Morningside College and the League of Women Voters of Sioux City in partnership with the Woodbury County Democrats, the Republican Party of Woodbury County, Western Iowa Tech Community College and Briar Cliff University.
