Colin Thimes will present a percussion recital on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021, at 3 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium.

Colin Thimes, a music education major at Morningside University, will present a percussion recital on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021, at 3 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium on Morningside’s campus. The recital is free and open to the public.

Thimes is from North Platte, Neb. He studies percussion with Ron Smith, applied percussion and percussion pedagogy instructor, and he will be accompanied by Michele Grossman. He will perform works by Ivan Trevino, Sergei Prokofiev, Kirk J. Gray, William Kraft, and Jay Wanamaker. The recital will also include a percussion ensemble playing compositions by James L. Moore, Alan Abel, Kristen Shiner McGuire, and a piece written by Thimes titled “A Moment of Reflection.” Thimes is a center snare and section leader for the Pride of Morningside marching band and the Pit instructor for Bishop Heelan Catholic High School during their marching band season. He is also the president of Morningside’s chapter of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity and works for campus security and in Morningside’s music department.

The Morningside University School of Visual and Performing Arts provides immersive opportunities for Morningside students and the Siouxland community to experience the power of music and the fine arts.
