Morningside hosts Siouxland Summer Youth Band

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — High school musicians: Don’t let your instruments gather dust this summer! Dr. Christopher Brandt, director of instrumental activities at Morningside University, invites you to join the Siouxland Summer Youth Band from June 10-26 and July 8-24.
Open to high school and incoming college students, this engaging camp offers the perfect chance to build your musical skills, play exciting repertoire—from film scores to favorite video game themes—and perform for the Siouxland community on the Morningside campus after each three-week session.
“It’s a great opportunity to play some fun, exciting music and keep them playing their instruments over the summer and get to perform for the Siouxland public here on the Morningside campus,” Brandt said.
Campers will rehearse every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 10 a.m. in Eppley Auditorium, preparing for two concerts that showcase their growth and talent. You’ll also connect with current Morningside band members, making valuable friendships and learning from shared experiences.
The program is an excellent opportunity for music education students eager for hands-on teaching experience with high school musicians.
Families who can’t commit to the full camp can still register for one of the three-week sessions. Registration is $50 and includes a camp T-shirt.
