(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Morningside Mustangs win on the road against Truman State University in Kirksville, Miss. 35-17.

            Morningside sophomore, Arnijae Ponder started the game off with a touchdown a little over a minute into the game. Shortly after, Truman States Lawren Woods who, seconds later responded with a touchdown to tie the game 7-7. Adding to the scoreboard Jaden Barr scored the final touchdown of the first quarter to bring the Bulldogs ahead 14-7.

            The Mustangs fired back in the second quarter with a 15-yard touchdown from sophomore Reid Jurgensmeier and to tie the game at 14-14. Josh Scheiderer from the Bulldogs adds three to the scoreboard with a 27 yard field goal, 17-14. With a fake field goal attempt, Connor Niles charged 6 yards into the end zone to end the first half with the Mustangs ahead 21-17.

            The third quarter saw a beautiful 47 yard pass when quarterback Trent Solsma connected with Connor Niles to reach a score of 28-17. This pass marked Solsma’s 100th touchdown pass of his career. A quick fourth quarter 11 yard pass to Jared Myers to end the game with a final score of 35-17.

            The Morningside Mustangs will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 15 in Mitchell, S.D. facing off against Dakota Wesleyan.
