Morningside College to celebrate Homecoming
Morningside College alumni, friends, students and parents will have the opportunity to attend a variety of events during “Homecoming and Family Fun Weekend 2018” Oct. 12 through Oct. 14.

Reunion classes honored during Homecoming will be 1958 and 1968.
On Tuesday, Oct. 9, Morningside students will participate in a talent show and Homecoming coronation at 7 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave. These events are free and open to the public.
The weekend kicks off on Friday, Oct. 12, with campus tours starting at 9 a.m. and continuing until 2 p.m. There will be a reunion dinner for the classes of 1958 and 1968 at the home of President John and Robin Reynders. Other alumni, reunion groups and friends will gather at Bob Roe’s Point After.
Events on Saturday, Oct. 13, begin with campus tours from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Other events include alumni receptions, the M-Club Brunch and athletic hall of fame awards presentation. There will also be a tailgate with President John Reynders at 11:30 a.m. at the Mason Family Tennis Complex, which is in Lewis Park at the intersection of South Paxton Street and Peters Avenue. The cost for the tailgate meal will be $5 per person, while children under 5 are free. The Homecoming football game against Doane University begins at 1:30 p.m. in Elwood Olsen Stadium, 3201 Peters Ave. Admission is $8 for adults and $3 for students.
After the football game, “Taste of Morningside” begins at 4 p.m. in the Mason Family Tennis Complex parking lot. “Taste of Morningside” will feature Final Mix Show Band, a cover band that plays music from all the decades. There will be food from La Juanita’s, Miles Inn, Bob Roe’s Point After, Jerry’s Pizza, Palmer Candy, Pizza Ranch, Dairy Queen, Papa Schrocks Dog Eat Dog, and Kylie Q’s BBQ. Tickets for “Taste of Morningside” can be purchased on site.
At 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively, the women’s and men’s soccer teams will host Dordt College at Elwood Olsen Stadium. Both games are free to the public.
On Sunday, Oct. 14, at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively, alumni women’s and men’s soccer games will be held at Elwood Olsen Stadium.
At 10 a.m., a worship service featuring an alumni and student choir will take place in Eppley Auditorium. There will be a Marquis Brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Olsen Student Center, 3609 Peters Ave. The cost is $12 for adults and $7 for children ages 12 and under.
There will be a President’s Alumni Luncheon for Visual and Performing Arts in the Helen Levitt Art Gallery. Then a choral concert will take place at 1:30 p.m. in Eppley Auditorium featuring all Morningside choirs and the Westwood High School Concert Choir. The Westwood High School Concert Choir will be conducted by Tom Gerking, who graduated from Morningside in 1990.
