Morningside College sophomore Tessa Renze is one of 11 college students from Iowa and Minnesota selected to participate in the 2019 Principal Community Scholars Program, which encourages student leadership to meet community needs.

Morningside College sophomore Tessa Renze is one of 11 college students from Iowa and Minnesota selected to participate in the 2019 Principal Community Scholars Program, which encourages student leadership to meet community needs.

As a participant in the program, Renze will begin research for hosting a food pantry on the Morningside College campus to help support students in the summer by providing free, healthy options. When she completes the service project, Renze will receive a $1,000 scholarship from Principal, a financial services company based in Des Moines, Iowa. Renze is a social and behavioral science and psychology major from Omaha, Neb.

Minnesota Campus Compact and Iowa Campus Compact selected students for the Principal Community Scholars Program from nominations submitted by faculty and staff. Campus Compact is a national coalition of more than 1,000 colleges and universities with 34 state and regional affiliates. Iowa Campus Compact is a statewide association of college and university presidents providing leadership for the civic mission of higher education.
