Morningside College will welcome first-year students to campus during orientation activities scheduled from Sunday, Aug. 19, through Tuesday, Aug. 21. Fall semester classes for all Morningside students begin Wednesday, Aug. 22.

According to Lillian Lopez, Morningside’s vice president for advising, the orientation schedule is designed to help students make the transition to college life.

“The activities we have planned for Morningside’s Class of 2022 will help students get to know each other and become better acquainted with the campus,” Lopez said.

Freshmen move into residence halls from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 19. Other events scheduled during the day include an orientation lunch, a “Welcome to Morningside” seminar and a hypnotist performance in Eppley Auditorium.

Events scheduled for Aug. 20 include a “Transition to College” session and a series of seminars on study skills, co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities, and support services offered on campus. First-year students also will participate in an academic majors extravaganza and an activities and campus organizations fair.

Highlights for Aug. 21 include a presentation, “What’s Your Soundtrack?,” by guest lecturer Josh Blakely.
