The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) has awarded Morningside College continuing accreditation for another 10 years.

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) has awarded Morningside College continuing accreditation for another 10 years.

Morningside has held continuous accreditation from the NCA since 1913.

Dr. William Deeds, provost of the college, said, “Morningside is very pleased with the continuing accreditation. It’s an indication of the quality of our academic programs, and it allows our students to continue to receive federal financial aid.”

The accreditation is for both the college’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Morningside offers five bachelor’s degrees: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Nursing. The college also offers a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.

The HLC requires NCA member institutions to undergo a comprehensive evaluation every 10 years. In March, a five-member HLC evaluation team was on Morningside’s campus to visit with college constituencies and to review supporting documents and evidence for the self-study report that college staff had prepared during the previous year.

Morningside’s last evaluation was in 2004.
