Morningside College’s Col. Bud Day Center for Civic Engagement has received a $7,000 grant from the C. Charles Jackson Foundation to support expansion of student leadership initiatives at the college.

“This grant provides us with an exciting opportunity to develop innovative leadership programming grounded in Morningside’s commitment to ethical leadership and civic responsibility,” said Dr. Valerie Hennings, interim director for the center. “These leadership initiatives will not only benefit the students, faculty and staff of Morningside, but also build stronger connections with those beyond the campus community.”

The Col. Bud Day Center for Civic Engagement focuses on activities related to civic awareness and citizenship on the Morningside campus and the Sioux City area. The center is affiliated with Morningside’s Department of Economics, Political Science and Sociology.

The C. Charles Jackson Foundation, based in Minneapolis, Minn., advances leadership, character and life-skills education for students of all ages throughout the United States.
