Seven Morningside College students and a faculty adviser recently attended the Sigma Tau Delta 2018 International Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, and received an award recognizing the 90th anniversary of the English honor society chapter at Morningside.

“We’re one of the oldest chapters in the country,” said Heather Eisele, who served last year as chapter co-president. “I’m proud to be a part of such a historic organization. It helps me to feel connected with English students past and present and to see how important studying English has been at Morningside for the past 90 years.”

Other students who attended the conference were Alexi Malatare, chapter co-president; Allison Linafelter, vice president; Shelby Small, social media chair, historian and newsletter editor; Madison Monahan, public relations chair; Kristen Brown, fundraising chair; and member Sondra Thoreson. They attended the conference with Dr. Christina Triezenberg, assistant professor of English and Sigma Tau Delta chapter adviser.

Eisele, Linafelter, Monahan and Brown presented papers at the conference, while Malatare, Small and Thoreson chaired and moderated panels.

All of the students graduated in May except Brown, who will be the incoming president of the Morningside chapter of Sigma Tau Delta in the fall.
