Morningside College conferred 302 bachelor’s degrees and 265 Master of Arts in Teaching degrees during its 117th spring commencement held May 9.

Morningside College conferred 302 bachelor’s degrees and 265 Master of Arts in Teaching degrees during its 117th spring commencement held May 9.

In addition to the spring graduates, degrees were conferred upon August and December 2014 graduates, as well as students expected to graduate in August 2015. Morningside awarded honorary degrees to George Dehne, president and CEO of GDA Integrated Services in Old Saybrook, Conn.; Bishop Deborah Lieder Kiesey, United Methodist Church bishop of the Michigan Area in Lansing, Mich.; and Mark Nylen, president and CEO of Hepar BioScience LLC in Jefferson, S.D.

Kathleen Green, assistant professor of history at Morningside, received the 2015 Lucille and Charles Wert Faculty Award for excellence in teaching. The award recognizes the faculty member judged by his or her peers to best exemplify the ideals of the teaching profession at Morningside.
