Alexandra Mankle was named the GPAC Women’s Golfer of the Week.

Alexandra Mankle, a freshman from Milford, Iowa, has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Golfer of the Week for March 28 to April 3.

Mankle was the runner-up individual medalist at the Nebraska Wesleyan University Spring Invite held March 30 and 31 at Highlands Golf Course and Pioneers Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb.

Mankle carded an opening round 79 at Highlands and finished with an 80 at Pioneers for a two-day total of 159 to share runner-up medalist honors with Kelsey Marshall of host Nebraska Wesleyan. They finished one stroke off the pace of Peru State College’s Jessica Weickert, who captured medalist honors with a 158.

Mankle’s exploits led the Mustangs to a second place finish in the team standings. Morningside carded a team score of 676 to finish four strokes out of first place behind Nebraska Wesleyan.

Mankle leads the Mustangs with an 84.8-stroke scoring average over the 2015 fall and 2016 spring campaigns.
