Morningside University’s Mass Communication program was recognized at the 2022 Association for Education of Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) conference in Detroit this month.

Dave Madsen, associate professor of mass Communication, was re-electedco-chair of the research committee for the Small Programs Interest Group (SPIG).He was also appointed to the role ofco-webmaster for SPIG.

At the conference, Madsen was part of apanel discussiontitled “Developing Community Connections”. His presentation was about the Mass Communication Advisory Board that he developed at Morningside, composed ofall media and media-related outlets in Sioux City.

Morningside University’s Mass Communication departmentacquaints students with all major forms of media and gives them the opportunity to sharpen their skills working in an active learning, hands-on environment. Students also develop expertise with print, radio, television, and news media through the lens of ethics, contemporary issues, industry standards, and learning experiences.
