Bryce Koch was named a NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball honorable mention All-American.

Bryce Koch, a 6-6 senior center from Dell Rapids, S.D., was named a 2016-17 NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball honorable mention All-American.

Koch was the Mustangs’ leading scorer and rebounder this season with career-high averages of 15.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Aside from leading the Mustangs in scoring and rebounding, Koch also topped the team with 32 steals and 30 blocked shots. He made 195 of 322 field goal attempts for 60.6 percent and converted 97 of 131 free throw attempts for 74.0 percent.

Koch led the Mustangs with 29 double figure scoring performances and scored a season’s high 29 points in a 95-89 victory against Cardinal Stritch University. Koch was the Mustangs’ leading rebounder in 17 of their 31 contests and had the team’s top single-game rebounding performance of the campaign with a career-high 17-board haul in an 87-81 overtime win against Doane University.

Koch amassed 1252 points and 694 rebounds for averages of 10.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game over his Morningside career. He is the 12th leading scorer in Morningside history with his 1252 career points. Koch made 501 of 816 career field goal attempts for 61.4 percent.

Koch’s exploits helped lead the Mustangs to a 21-10 record during the 2016-17 campaign for the team’s seventh 20-win season during the Jim Sykes coaching era.
