It is with heavy hearts that the Morningside College community offers condolences and sympathy to the family of David Rebstock. Better known as Rebby to many, Rebstock was sports information director (SID) at Morningside for more than 20 years. He passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 30.

“All of us at Morningside extend our heartfelt sympathy to Dave’s family. He had a deep love for athletics, statistics and highlighting the accomplishments of our student-athletes and coaches that was evident in all his work. His loss is deeply felt at Morningside and by all those who knew and appreciated the color he brought to Mustang athletics,” said Morningside College President John Reynders.

“Rebby was known and regarded by our athletes, fans and local media as one of the best sports information directors around,” said Tim Jager, athletics director at Morningside College. “His knowledge of Morningside athletics was incredible. But more importantly, anyone who worked with Rebby knew he was someone you could count on. He was loyal, kind and exactly the kind of person you wanted on your team. Rebby greatly contributed to the excellence we strive for at Morningside, and a legacy of excellence is exactly what he leaves behind.”

Rebstock arrived at Morningside College as SID and head golf coach in 1997. Prior to Morningside, Rebstock served as SID at Westmar College in Le Mars from 1990 to 1997 and sports editor for the Le Mars Daily Sentinel from 1981 to 1990.
