Jayde Bergmann and Darby Jones are the latest women’s volleyball recruits announced by head coach Sara Horn.

Morningside College women’s volleyball head coach Sara Horn announced the names of two high school recruits who will join the Mustangs for the upcoming 2014 season.

The recruits are Jayde Bergmann, a 5-10 outside hitter from Dakota Dunes, S.D., and Darby Jones, a 5-11 outside hitter from Spencer, Iowa.

Bergmann is a 2014 graduate of Dakota Valley High School, where she helped lead the team to a 30-3 record and South Dakota’s Class A state championship this past season. Bergmann, a first-team South Dakota Volleyball Coaches Association all-state selection, had season’s highs of 21 kills and 19 digs against Winner in the state championship match. Her previous high of 18 kills came in the state semifinals against Sioux Falls Christian. Bergmann led the team with 300 kills for an average of 3.19 kills per set and with a .362 hitting percentage. She had 187 digs, seven solo blocks, and 29 block assists for averages of 1.99 digs and 0.38 blocks per set. Bergmann completed 222 of 262 serve attempts for 84.7 percent with 34 aces.

She earned second-team all-state honors as a junior.

Jones is a 2014 graduate of Okoboji High School, where she was the top hitter in the team’s attack during the 2013 season with 240 kills for an average of 3.08 kills per set. She was second on the team with six solo blocks and 31 block assists for an average of 0.47 blocks per set. Jones came up with 173 digs for an average of 2.22 per set and completed 160 of 183 serve attempts for 87.4 percent with 14 aces.
