Morningside College’s men’s and women’s basketball programs each landed spots within the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ preseason Division II top 25s, released Tuesday, Oct. 23.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA –Morningside College’s men’s and women’s basketball programs each landed spots within the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ preseason Division II top 25s, released Tuesday, Oct. 23.

Head coach Jamie Sale’s women’s team was placed No. 11 on the first ranking, one of six Great Plains Athletic Conference squads among the first 20. Defending national runner-up Concordia University of Nebraska and defending national champion Dakota Wesleyan University were one-two with Northwestern College at No. 8, the Mustangs sitting at No. 11, and Jamestown College of North Dakota part of a tie at No. 16.

MC’s men, the preseason GPAC favorites, were placed at number four on the poll. Defending national champion Indiana Wesleyan University was in the top spot followed by Indiana University – East and the College of Idaho just ahead of the Mustangs. Briar Cliff University and Dakota Wesleyan University joined the Maroon and White in representing the GPAC on the list, as BC was No. 10 and DWU was slotted at No. 17.
