Morningside senior Cody Holck earned the top spot at the Grand View Invite in Polk City, IA, on Tuesday, while the men’s team earned a second place finish and tied with the Morningside record for low team score on an away course.

Morningside senior Cody Holck earned the top spot at the Grand View Invite in Polk City, IA, on Tuesday, while the men’s team earned a second place finish and tied with the Morningside record for low team score on an away course.

Holck registered a total score of 140 after shooting a 72 in day one of play and a 68 during day 2. That tied him with Andre Beccera of Bellevue, moving the two leaders to a two-hole playoff with Holck emerging the victor.

The team as a whole also had an outstanding performance, shooting six under par at 566 for second place behind Bellevue University (564). In addition to Holck’s 140, Sam Storey logged a 141, Corey Matthew earned a 142, and Jonathan Douglas posted a 143, and Connor Prescott’s total score registered at 167.

The combined score also tied the Morningside record for low team score at an away course, which was set at Hawks Creek Golf Club (a par 72 course) on Sept. 11, 2017, by the Morningside team of Johnathan Douglas, Corey Matthey, Ferran Cortilla, Daniel Bone.
