Holck Earns Medalist Honors at Midland Invite; Men's Team Ties for First
Senior golfer Cody Holck brought home medalist honors and the Mustang men’s golf team finished as one of four teams tied for first at the Midland Invite held at The Pines Country Club in Valley, Neb.
Holck finished two-under 70 on the day, sharing medalist honors with Matthew Schaefer of Northeast Community College (Neb.). Morningside junior Tyler Danke and freshman Sam Storey also landed in the top 10, each shooting a 72.
The team finished four over par with a score of 292, tying for first with Doane University, Northwestern College (IA), and Midland University in a field of 19 teams. Using tie-breaker procedures (lowest score of the 5th golfer), Morningside officially placed third; Doane was named champion.
Morningside’s second team of golfers finished fifth, led by Danke's 72 and Connor Prescott's 73.
Next up, the Mustang men are headed to Sioux Falls, SD, for the GPAC Fall Championships at River Run Golf Club to be held Sept. 24 and 25.
