Katie Hanson is the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Katie Hanson, a sophomore from Saint Peter, Minn., has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for April 21-27.
Hanson went 2-0 at No. 1 singles to help the Mustangs win duals against Mount Marty College and Nebraska Wesleyan University to lock up the GPAC regular season championship with a perfect 7-0 league record.
Hanson defeated Vanessa Rockne 6-1, 6-0 in Morningside’s 9-0 victory against Mount Marty and topped Hannah Husmann 6-3, 6-3 in a 6-3 win against Nebraska Wesleyan to improve her season’s record to 9-5.
Morningside is the No. 1 seed for this weekend’s GPAC Tennis Championship in Fremont, Neb., and will face either Nebraska Wesleyan or Hastings College in Friday’s semifinals.
