Morningside placed five players on the CoSIDA College Division Academic All-District 3 Football Team.

Morningside placed five players on the 2016 College Division Academic All-District 3 Football Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Mustangs’ academic all-district selections are Austin Anfinson, Chad Bertagni, Nate Crnkovich, Blake Frank and Taylor James. Their names will go on the national ballot for selection of the 2016 College Division Academic All-America Football Team.

Anfinson, a senior offensive lineman from Hinton, Iowa, has a 3.87 cumulative grade point average (GPA) with majors in biology and chemistry.

Bertagni, a senior offensive lineman from Omaha, Neb., has a 3.96 cumulative GPA with majors in biology and chemistry.

Crnkovich, a senior defensive lineman from Papillion, Neb., has a 3.60 cumulative GPA with a major in nursing.

Frank, a senior offensive lineman from Mapleton, Minn., has a 3.65 cumulative GPA with a major in business administration.

James, a senior defensive back from Westfield, Iowa, has a 3.48 cumulative GPA with a major in business administration.

Athletes must be of at least sophomore academic status, be a starter or significant reserve, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher to be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
