Evelyn Edge, a senior from Genoa City, Wis., was named the Liberal Arts Championship Women’s Swimmer of the Week after she helped the Mustangs open the season with a 167-71 dual meet victory against Nebraska Wesleyan University last Saturday in Lincoln, Neb.
Edge won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.89 seconds and the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.75. She set new meet records in both and a new pool record in the 200. Edge reigned in the 200-yard freestyle with a victory margin just under five seconds.
Aside from her two individual triumphs, Edge also helped lead the Mustangs to a first place finish in the 200-yard individual medley.
Morningside will host Iowa Central Community College in a 1 p.m. dual on Saturday, Nov. 5.
