SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Morningside University is pleased to share that Dr. Albert Mosley, 13th president of Morningside University, will be the keynote speaker at Sioux City’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration on Monday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ. The event is open to the public and sponsored by the Sioux City chapter of the NAACP.

In addition to Dr. Mosley’s keynote address, high school students from the Sioux City Community School District will be represented in a MLK essay writing contest. School Board member Monique Scarlett will speak on the theme of the event, “This is the power…our collective voice.” Longtime civil rights advocate Richard Hayes will deliver King’s “Mountain Top” speech. Music will be provided by the MLK Community Choir under the direction of Sandra Pearson.

Morningside students, alumni, faculty, and staff are encouraged to take part in the events and support President Mosley.
