Morningside’s dance team received an at-large bid to compete in the 2017 NAIA Competitive Cheer & Dance National Championships.

Morningside College’s dance team received an at-large bid to compete in the first-ever NAIA Competitive Cheer & Dance National Championships on March 10-11 at Abe Lemons Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The Mustangs finished second behind Midland University at this past Friday’s NAIA Competitive Cheer & Dance Northwest Group Qualifier Tournament in Baldwin City, Kan.

The team champions in both the cheer and dance competitions from each of the four NAIA group qualifier tournaments earned automatic berths in the NAIA National Championships. Eight teams in both cheer and dance received at-large bids from the NAIA national office to complete the national championship field. At-large bids were based on team scores at the four group qualifier tournaments.

Morningside’s cheer team also finished second at the NAIA Northwest Group Qualifier Tournament, but did not receive an at-large bid.
