Ferran Cortilla carded an even par 70 to finish in a five-way tie for individual medalist honors and lead Morningside to a second place finish in the team standings at GPAC Men’s Golf Qualifier #4 held Monday at Two Rivers Golf Club.

Cortilla, who shot a 35 on the front nine and a 35 on the back nine, shared individual honors with Cameron Bargell of Hastings, Nolan Zikas of Concordia, Renen Sahr of Midland, and Matt Unruh of Nebraska Wesleyan, who also finished at 70.

The Mustangs posted a team score of 293 to tie Northwester for second place and finish just two strokes out of first place behind a 291 by Hastings.

Cody Holck shot a three-over par 73 to finish in a tie for 13th place.

Morningside also counted 75s by Zach Ward and Ben Schwaderer. Ben Peterson also broke 80 with a 77.

Morningside finished in a tie for third place with Doane in the final GPAC team standings with a combined four-tourney score of 1214 strokes. The Mustangs finished five strokes out of second place behind Midland. Northwestern won the conference title wiht 1197 strokes.

Cortilla finished as the runner-up medalist in the combined scoring with an eight-over par score of 291 to finish one stroke out of first place behind Midland’s Sahr.

Zach Ward also finished in the Top 10 with with a four-tourney total of 302 for eighth place.
