Neeia Cooperwood was named the GPAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.

Neeia Cooperwood, a senior from Omaha, Neb., has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for Feb. 2-8.

Cooperwood won three events in the college division at last Saturday’s Dakota Reality Alumni Meet in Vermillion, S.D., with winning times of 7.72 seconds in the 60-meters and 24.75 in the 200-meters as well as the winning distance of 18-10 in the long jump. Her time in the 60-meters was just .02 off her own Morningside record. Her time in the 200-meters was the fourth fastest in the NAIA this season.

Cooperwood also competed against a field comprised predominately of NCAA Division I athletes at last Friday’s University of Nebraska Frank Sevigne Invitational. She finished 11th in the 400-meters with a school-record time of 56.25 to take almost a full second off her previous Mustang standard of 57.17 she set last season. Her time was the fourth fastest in the NAIA this season.

She received the GPAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor for the second time this season.
