Following COVID guidelines is key to enjoying athletic events and on-campus activities.

Dear Morningsiders –

We are three weeks into classes. Fall sports are underway. Clubs and organizations are finding ways to meet and move forward. Though COVID-19 is present and has offered us challenges, overall, things are going well and it’s wonderful having you back on campus. Thank you.

Many of you may be aware that this weekend is our home opener for football. Our defending back-to-back national champion Mustangs will be taking on #6 Northwestern. It’s going to be a big game for many reasons.

Being able to enjoy competition, events, activities, and in-person classes are all among the reasons we chose to open in-person this fall. The trade-off of that decision, though, is that in order to keep it going, we need every member of this community following guidelines.

Though you may be weary of hearing it, I want to remind each of you to please do your part – especially since there will be extra people on campus this weekend. Skip the large groups and parties. Be smart. Protect yourself.

As a reminder:

  • Fans will be present at athletic competitions, though Morningside will be live streaming all home athletic events via msidemustangs.com, and KMNS will broadcast home and away football and home volleyball for those who prefer to cheer on the Mustangs remotely.
  • Anyone who attends Morningside-sponsored athletic events (indoor or outdoor) will be required to wear a face covering.
  • You/your group should adhere to physical distancing guidelines.
  • Tailgating will be prohibited on-campus through January 2021.

Thank you again to everyone who is doing their part and continuing to make this old president proud of Morningside. Please keep taking care of yourselves and one another.

Be well,

John Reynders
President
