Merle Bublitz was named to the 2017 College Division All-Academic District 3 Women’s Soccer Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Her name will go on the national ballot for selection of the College Division Academic All-America Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams.

Bublitz, a junior forward from Burgwedel, Germany, has a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA with a double major in biology and mathematics. She was the Mustangs’ leading scorer this season with 12 goals and eight assists for 32 points. Bublitz provided the game winning goal in Morningside’s 4-1 win against Johnson & Wales and 7-0 triumph against Waldorf University. Bublitz is the ninth leading scorer in Morningside history with 62 career points and 18 career goals.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District College Division Teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.  Athletes must be of at least sophomore academic status, be a starter or significant reserve, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher to be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
