Tom Paulsen, associate professor and chair of the applied agricultural and food studies program at Morningside College, recently gave presentations at the American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE) national meeting in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

He presented two research papers and a poster that he co-authored with a former graduate student and colleague.

The first paper examined the integration of team-based learning into a capstone farm management course as a way to make sure students are engaged in the material and get hands-on experience. The second paper reported student perceptions before and after the course, finding that students did not think they would enjoy team-based learning but they actually did.

The poster explained how to use Snapchat to prepare for FFA career development events.

Paulsen joined the Morningside College faculty in 2016. He has a doctorate in agricultural education from Iowa State University.
