STUDENT STORIES
“I visited Morningside during my junior year of high school and immediately felt at home. … There was an instant connection to the staff and coaches I met with during my visit that I did not experience during visits to other schools.”
– Hannah Dillehay (Class of ’25)

YOUR JUNIOR YEAR CHECKLIST
Visit at least 2–3 colleges
See what feels right. Big or small? Far or close? Morningside’s got all the good vibes — come take a look.
Make a “Brag Sheet”
Start listing your accomplishments, clubs, jobs, and volunteer work. It’ll come in handy for scholarships and apps!
Take the Mustang Match Quiz
Not sure what you’re into yet? Our quiz helps you explore majors and student life based on your vibe.
Write down your must-haves
Dorms? Study abroad? Choir and Chemistry? Make a list of what matters to you.
Create a college email (or folder)
Keep college info out of your main inbox. Trust us — you’ll thank yourself later.
Follow your favorite schools on social media
It’s the easiest way to get a feel for campus culture. (ours is @morningsideedu)
Check ACT/SAT requirements
Decide if you’ll test — and register if needed. (Morningside is test-optional, by the way.)
Start your college list
Make a “definitely,” “maybe,” and “not really” list. Update as you go!
Talk to your family about financial aid
It doesn’t have to be scary — just start the convo.
Look for local scholarships
Many open up junior year. (And Morningside has some great ones — hint hint.)
Register for a junior visit event
Our Junior Visit Day on April 17, 2026 is built just for you.
Ask real students what it’s like
Our “Ask a Mustang” feature connects you with current students who’ve been in your shoes.
PARENT CORNER
Ways to support your junior:
- Start early, but don’t stress — junior year is for exploring options, not locking them in.
- Visit together to see campus through both your eyes.
- Ask open-ended questions like, “What did you like about that visit?”
- Keep track of deadlines for tests, scholarships, and events.
- Don’t assume cost equals value — private colleges often offer significant financial aid.
- Talk about finances early to ease the process later.
- Let them lead their college journey while you cheer them on.
