Software Engineer

Morningside University is now accepting applications for the full-time position of Software Engineer. This position plays a central role in advancing the University’s digital ecosystem by leveraging Jenzabar One as the system of record and institutional engagement platform. The Software Engineer is responsible for understanding, configuring, and supporting all functional and technical components of Jenzabar One, ensuring it is optimized to meet institutional needs. In addition, this role designs, develops, and maintains integrations between Jenzabar One and institutional applications (e.g., JRM/Salesforce, ADP, LMS, and other enterprise systems) to deliver a seamless, data-driven experience.

Responsibilities:

Jenzabar One Platform

  • Develop a deep understanding of Jenzabar One configurations, modules, workflows, and data structures.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize Jenzabar One to support student, academic, financial, and administrative processes.
  • Ensure the platform is aligned with institutional priorities and supports efficient, standardized business processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to system configuration, workflows, and user experience within Jenzabar One.

Software Integration Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain integrations that position Jenzabar One as the authoritative source of institutional data.
  • Build and support APIs, middleware, and data pipelines connecting Jenzabar One with systems such as JRM/Salesforce, ADP, LMS, and other applications.
  • Ensure integrations support a connected, end-to-end student lifecycle, from recruitment through alumni engagement.

Student Experience & Institutional Efficiency

  • Partner with stakeholders across Enrollment, Academic Affairs, Finance, HR, and Student Life to deliver integrated solutions that enhance the student and faculty experience.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes through both configuration and integration, reducing manual work and eliminating data silos.
  • Support digital initiatives that improve self-service capabilities and user experience.

 Architecture, Reliability & Security

  • Contribute to the architecture of both platform configurations and integration patterns (API-first, event-driven, ETL/ELT).
  • Ensure configurations and integrations are secure, scalable, and compliant with institutional data governance standards.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance across Jenzabar One and integrated applications.

Platform Lifecycle & Continuous Improvement

  • Support upgrades, patches, and enhancements to Jenzabar One, ensuring configurations and integrations remain aligned.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine configurations to improve usability, efficiency, and system performance.
  • Stay current with Jenzabar One capabilities, updates, and higher education technology trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience supporting enterprise systems configuration and integrations in a production environment.
  • Experience with or strong exposure to Jenzabar One (preferred) or similar higher education ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with version control systems and modern development practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of Jenzabar One configuration, modules, and business process workflows (or demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and master the platform).
  • Ability to support both functional configuration and technical integration within the platform.
  • Experience aligning system configurations to institutional process improvement and user experience goals.
  • Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, web services, and system integrations.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems such as CRM (Salesforce/JRM), HRIS (ADP), and LMS platforms.
  • Integration & Data Expertise
  • Ability to troubleshoot across application, integration, and configuration layers.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on end-to-end system thinking.
  • Ability to balance configuration vs. customization decisions effectively.
