Placement Coordinator
Morningside University is looking for a qualified individual to fill the full time Placement Coordinator position in the Sharon Walker School of Education. This individual will support the operations of the Sharon Walker School of Education as the primary liaison for field placements between Morningside University and K-12 School District partners and is responsible for maintaining existing partnerships with placement sites, verifying qualified placement sites, preparing cooperating school district agreements, and maintaining associated student records.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with school districts to arrange placements for field experiences, practicums, internships, and student teaching for the unit.
- Record background checks, placements, checkpoint and assessment data into student information system and/or education student portfolio system.
- Participate in orientation and information workshops related to all field experiences for all programs in the unit.
- Provide consistent and professional communication to all stakeholders throughout the placement process via phone, email, video conference, or in-person.
- Create and manage written correspondence, including placement agreements, related to the placement cycle.
- Enhance and maintain the system for processing and tracking placements and data related to checkpoint progressions.
- Conduct and analyze surveys with all field placement stakeholders.
- Oversee recordkeeping related to field placements, such as time logs and evaluation documentation.
- Assist the Assistant Dean of Operations as needed in tracking student requirements for licensure.
- Collaborate, as directed, on special projects for the unit.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ensures student placements meet the requirements of IAC Chapter 77 and Chapter 79.
- Know and understand Iowa Administrative Code (IAC) Chapter 77 and Chapter 79.
- Comfortable communicating with external and internal administrators, faculty, and students.
- Provide exceptional service and support to students throughout the placement cycle.

Education and Experience:
- Three (3) years’ experience in a related education or customer service related field preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
