The Department of Humanities at Morningside University seeks a faculty member for the History program as a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The position emphasizes developing student knowledge, understanding, and skills related to history, historical research, and history teaching. This position is a nine-month appointment beginning August 16, 2027.

The best qualified candidates will have a PhD in history. The teaching load is 24 credits per year, including a May Term every three years. Candidates must be able to teach courses in US history and European history. Candidates should expect to teach both halves of the standard US survey sequence annually; one course each year in modern European history, Renaissance to the present; and first-year composition. Candidates should be interested in teaching upper-level undergraduate research seminars in the candidate’s areas (themes or eras) of US history specialization and in developing cross-national (US-world) courses. Ideal candidates will have an active scholarly agenda that could include collaborating with students.
