Russian pianist Denis Evstuhin will present a guest recital at Morningside College at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave. It is free and open to the public.

Evstuhin was the 2009 winner of the Iowa Piano Competition. His Morningside recital will include works by Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Ravel and Gershwin. 

Evstuhin has earned international acclaim for his artistry, sound quality and virtuosity from audiences and critics alike. He has earned prizes in a number of international competitions, and he was a guest on Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion.”

He has performed in major cities throughout Germany, Austria, Spain, Russia, France, Switzerland, Finland, Poland, Estonia and the United States. He has appeared in venues such as Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the great Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff halls in Moscow and the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Russia. He has appeared as a soloist with the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, San Diego Symphony and the Sioux City Symphony. 

Evstuhin holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music from the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia. While in the United States, he received an Artist Diploma from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn., as well as Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in piano performance from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
