Choral Music

Join the Tradition

Choral music has been part of Morningside College's campus life experience for nearly 100 years. The program has produced numerous notable alumni who have strongly impacted music education, conducting, and music performance on a regional and national level.  The program’s rich heritage remains today as four outstanding choral ensembles that include Morningside students from all major areas of study.

All Morningside students are welcome to participate and scholarships are available for students planning to join one of the vocal music ensembles, which are listed below.

The Morningside Choir

The Morningside Choir is a select auditioned choral ensemble of forty-five singers that has been regionally and nationally recognized for its excellence in choral performance. The ensemble has earned a reputation for its artistic performance of a cappella choral repertoire. However, the ensemble also performs a wide array of musical styles and genres, including major choral/orchestral works.

The choir performs in at least three concerts per semester, including Christmas at Morningside. The ensemble also takes a yearly regional tour in the spring. In addition, the group tours nationally and internationally, with recent trips to New York City, Japan, Italy, China, and Eastern Europe.
