Aug 03, 2020 • Student News

Meet Jade Guzman! Guzman is a junior majoring in Elementary Education and Special Education, with an emphasis in reading and English as a secondary language, and Psychology. On campus, Guzman is the President of Teachers Inspiring Exceptional Students, is the social media chair for Alpha Lambda Delta, a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Connie Wimer Women’s Leadership Program, and the America Reads program. This summer, she is a Tyson Foods Summer Community Intern at Haven House.

At Haven House, Guzman is responsible for many social media tasks and community outreach planning following COVID-19. She also works on advocacy and case management concerning victims of domestic and sexual assault.

“I love Siouxland and want to help challenge its housing and food insecurity as well as tackle safety within our community,” Guzman wrote. “The best thing about working with a nonprofit is that there is an opportunity to help people and the community around every corner.”

Guzman has been drawn toward a profession that involves helping others, and she noted that her internship with Haven House has given her a place to explore these passions.

Thank you to Tyson Foods, Iowa Campus Compact, and Haven House for making this experience possible for Guzman and all the Tyson Foods Summer Community interns.
