Tyson Foods Intern: Sydney Palmer

Jul 07, 2020 • Student News

Meet Sydney Palmer! Palmer is a senior Nonprofit Management major with a health service focus. On campus, Palmer is involved with the Morningside Dance Team, Morningside Activities Council, Student Government, and has served as an RA in Roadman. This summer, she is a Tyson Foods Summer Community Intern at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Siouxland.

At the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Siouxland, Palmer is in charge of the lunch and kitchen programs. She plans each week’s meals, and she prepares specific lunches for St Luke’s NICU, PEDS, and ER. She is also in charge of stocking snacks and drinks in the kitchens. COVID-19 has made it impossible for her to visit the kitchens themselves, but Palmer says that she is still thankful to be giving back to the community.

“I love knowing that I am helping parents in a small way by making sure they are able to give 100% care and attention to their kids,” Palmer wrote. Firsthand experience with a nonprofit is showing Palmer what her future career could hold.

Thank you to Tyson Foods, Iowa Campus Compact, and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Siouxland for making this experience possible for Palmer and all the Tyson Foods Summer Community interns.
