Alumni Showcase: Reid Rosen '13
2013 alumnus Reid Rosen currently works for Rosen Diversified as Executive Vice President. Rosen Diversified is an agriculture holding company specializing in beef and crop protection industries. The beef division is the fifth largest beef processor in the US shipping over one million pounds of beef a day! They will be celebrating 75 years in business this next year while remaining a 100% privately-held and family-run business. Growing up in a small farming community in Minnesota and attending Morningside College showed Reid how important agriculture is to the Siouxland community.
Reid earned his bachelor's degree in business with a concentration in finance/accounting at Morningside and later received a master's degree in agricultural economics from Cornell University. When asked why he chose Morningside, Reid says, “The people. It was the only college I visited where I could tell the staff and students sincerely cared about my well-being. It isn’t a gimmick when Morningside says it has the best interests of its students in mind.” While at Morningside, Reid worked for Tyson Foods and Security National Bank. He shared that there are many internship opportunities in the Siouxland area and Morningside can help make those connections for students.
When it comes to working in agriculture, he says, “What works today may not be what works tomorrow.” Reid has found that agriculture is a dynamic business that changes rapidly from season to season, and adapting to these changes and looking for growth opportunities is crucial to success. He advises recent graduates to be honest about what they enjoy and dislike. "Don’t listen to the 'fake it until you make it' advice," Reid says. "Be honest about who you are.”
