Mustangs climb to No. 6

Morningside is ranked sixth in the nation in the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll released on Feb. 20.

The Mustangs, this year’s Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) regular season champion with a 14-4 league record, climbed four spots in the poll after they were ranked 10th in the previous poll. Morningside finished the regular season with a 23-6 record and is the No. 1 seed for the upcoming GPAC Post-Season Tournament. The Mustangs will host Dordt College in a quarterfinal round contest on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Morningside is one of four teams from the GPAC ranked in the NAIA II Top 25. Aside from Morningside, Briar Cliff University is ranked ninth, Northwestern College is 11th and Dakota Wesleyan University is 18th.
