Coach Todd Sapp
Todd Sapp became the Mustangs' head men's and women's golf coach in August 2008.
Sapp is one of the top amateur players in the Siouxland area with an impressive resume that includes over 50 tournament championships. Sapp is a five-time Jividen Cup champion as well as a three-time Nebraska Great Plains champion and a three-time Rivercade, Nebraska Governor Cup champion, and Sioux City men's city tournament champion. He is also a past Iowa Lake Creek Amateur and a Nebraska Open Amateur winner and has been the city champion in Sioux City and Lincoln, Neb. Sapp has also participated on both the Nebraska and Iowa Amateur State Cup teams.
Sapp, who works as a golf course designer, designed and constructed Whispering Creek Golf Course in Sioux City. Whispering Creek hosted the 2006 Iowa State Amateur and was named the Iowa Golf Association’s 2007 18-Hole Course of the Year.
He played collegiately at the University of Nebraska, where he graduated in 1983. He is a 1979 graduate of Sioux City North High School.
Nick Wanderscheid, assistant professional at Green Valley Golf Club, has been a Morningside assistant coach since 2008.
Wanderscheid has over 25 tournament titles on his resume, including 16 victories as a professional. Wanderscheid won four Nebraska PGA tournaments in 2010, including the Nebraska PGA Assistants Championship. That qualified Wandersheid for the National PGA Assistants Championship, where he made the cut and finished in the Top 30.
He holds course scoring records at Green Valley Golf Club and The Legend at Bergamont in Madison, Wis.
He was a 2009 U.S. Open Sectional qualifier and has trained with nationally known instructors James Sieckmann, Mike Schuchart, and Bryan Gathright.
Wanderscheid is a 1997 graduate of Sioux City East High School.
