Pianist Tian Tian will present a recital at Morningside College at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave. Her program will feature four etudes by Chopin, the “Third Scherzo” by Chopin, “La Valse” by Ravel and “Carnival” by Schumann.
Tian has performed as a solo artist at music festivals such as Piano Texas and the Gilmore Festival. She has also recently appeared as soloist with the Windsor Symphony and the Idyllwild Chamber Orchestra. As a member of the Studzinski Trio, she has performed in the U.S., China, and Korea. She has also won prizes at various national and international piano competitions.
Tian has presented extensive masterclasses, lectures and private lessons at several universities in China, and was named honorary professor at Shandong Normal University, Yunnan Institute for the Arts, Shaoxing Academy of the Arts, Weifang Academy, Mudanjiang Teacher’s University, Ludong University, Qufu University and Tsingtao University. Dr. Tian currently teaches at the University of Central Missouri.
This performance is the second in Morningside’s 2013-2014 piano recital series.
