Morningside Bike Rider Camping

RVs are able to park in Elwood Olsen Stadium with support vehicles on Friday, July 21, and/or Saturday, July 22, 2023. No water hook-ups or dumping are available on-site.

RV CAMPING NOTES

• Campers are requested to refrain from swimming in campus fountains.
• Morningside is planning to offer an on-campus meal option supporting a student organization. Details coming soon.
• Riders who camp at Morningside may park in any of the on-campus lots Friday and/or Saturday night at no charge. Long-term parking is not available.
• No electricity.
• Water station kybos (porta-potty) available in front of Lewis Hall.
• Showers available on-campus for $5 each.
  Campers will be expected to clean up their site(s).
• Alcoholic beverages may be consumed on campus.
• In the event of severe weather, Lewis Hall will serve as a storm shelter.

*Morningside University Campus Security and/or the Sioux City Police Department reserves the right to remove any individuals who become overly impaired, belligerent, cause harm to the campus community or property, or who otherwise display poor conduct.

For teams that have both an RV and tents, Morningside is offering RVs to park on the mall of its campus (located behind Lewis Hall) and tents may utilize the lawn around the walkway to camp on Friday, July 21, and/or Saturday, July 22, 2023.

Riders camping at Morningside may utilize any of the University parking lots on Friday and/or Saturday evening at no charge. Long-term parking is not available. Vehicles left in University lots after Sunday without a University parking permit will be towed.

Showers will be available to ALL bike riders in the Hindman-Hobbs Center located on campus.

Residence Halls

Residence Halls are not available for housing during the bike event.

Severe Weather

In the event of a severe weather WARNING, riders staying on campus will be invited to utilize the Hindman-Hobbs Center (HPER) as a storm shelter until the severe weather warning ends.

Water Stations

Drinking water stations will be available in front of Lewis Hall and at Elwood Olsen Stadium.

Trash/Clean-Up

All campers will be expected to clean up their camping spot. Dumpsters will be provided for trash.

RV Dumping

Morningside will not have a dumping station. Individuals who choose to RV camp at Morningside should find an option being provided by the City of Sioux City.

Alcohol On Campus

Morningside University employs a Campus Security team that regularly patrols the campus. Any individual found to be belligerent or causing any harm to the campus community may be subject to removal.

Conduct

Individuals who choose to camp at Morningside are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner, follow all laws, and respect the campus community. Nudity, fighting, excessive drinking, and other aggressive or illicit behavior will not be tolerated.
