Getting through COVID-19 Together

Like so many families and businesses, Morningside College has been dramatically affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Classes have been moved online. Residence halls and dining services have been closed. Events have been canceled and postponed. Performing arts and athletic seasons have been abruptly ended. Students have done a great job of adapting, and faculty and staff have worked tirelessly to make these shifts and support our students.

Despite these challenges, we see glimmers of hope every day. Morningsiders are coming together and the message is clear – we are in this together.

As we continue to make decisions in real-time, many alumni, parents, and friends have asked us, "How can we help?" We are deeply grateful for the support of our Morningside community and want to share a few ways you can be of assistance:

  1. Stay safe: Please follow the guidelines from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), practice social distancing, and do your part to help flatten the curve.
  2. Consider a gift to the Morningside COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund: Contributions will help Morningside support the fast-evolving needs of our students, faculty, staff, and campus and address unexpected or extraordinary circumstances. Your gift will make resources available for President Reynders to address urgent needs within the campus community.
  3. Send messages of inspiration and support to the Class of 2020: During these challenging times, words of hope are more meaningful than ever before. The Class of 2020 is experiencing a final semester unlike any other, which is why we are asking our Morningside family to complete our 20 for ’20 form to share your words of encouragement, insight, cheer, congratulations and well wishes for our upcoming grads! Let’s remind our students that we are in this together, and the Morningside network extends around the globe.

Our thoughts are with the elderly and those at high risk from infection; the doctors, nurses, medical staff and first responders coping with patient surge and putting themselves in harm’s way for the sake of the greater good; the many service industry workers who suddenly find themselves without a steady paycheck; the small business owners facing economic uncertainty; those struggling with anxiety and mental health issues; and so many more. We can’t wait for the day when we can hug our family, laugh with our friends and celebrate the beauty of the Morningside community together once again.
