Iowa All-State Choral Ensemble Clinic
The Iowa All-State Choral Ensemble Clinic is held in October and is designed to enhance high school student's delivery of the All-State repertoire. Artistic independence is developed through small and large group instruction, and group directives enhance musicianship, musical delivery, and voice placement strategies.
Each ensemble of soloist will participate in one forty-minute clinic with an expert Iowa choral music clinician. Past guest clinicians have included Bob Anderson, Jackie Burk, Allen Chapman, and Carol Tralau, and large group instruction is led each year by Dr. Ryan Person.
A $30 per student registration fee includes clinic instruction and on-campus lunch, with student registration beginning in August.
Iowa All-State Choral Camp
Each year, Morningside offers an Iowa All-State Choral Music Camp at the beginning of August. Intended to assist high school students with thoroughly preparing the All-State Chorus repertoire, students rehearse in full group rehearsals with Dr. Ryan Person and sectional rehearsals with four of Iowa’s finest high school choral music directors.
Rehearsals are held in Morningside’s 1,300-seat Eppley Auditorium and the MacCollin Music Building, and a performance is presented on the final day of camp. Students registering on or before June 1 will each pay $85, and registration thereafter is $100 per student.
