The Hindman-Hobbs Center, located at 3501 Peters Avenue, houses the competition sites for the Mustangs’ swimming and wrestling teams.
Built in 1989, the three-level, 71,000-square foot complex was designed to enhance academic programming related to the areas of health, physical education and leisure studies and to promote wellness for the entire community.
A swimming pool is featured in the natatorium. The pool consists of six 25-yard lanes that range in depth from 13 feet at the starting end to four feet at the turn end. The pool width is 45 feet. Each lane is seven feet wide and there is a 1.5-foot buffer lane between the outside lanes and the sidewalls. A 1.5-foot wide x 3-foot deep gutter surrounds the pool and each lane is divided by anti-turbulent lane ropes.
The gymnasium accommodates three basketball courts or five volleyball courts and is the site for the Mustangs’ home wrestling competitions. An elevated jogging track, measuring nine laps to the mile, encircles the gym.
The building’s lower level includes a wrestling room that serves as the practice site for the Mustangs’ wrestling team and a golf simulator room for the Mustangs’ men’s and women’s golf teams. The Mustangs’ cheer & dance teams practice in a dance studio located on the main level.
Other facilities include a weight training room, athletic training room, athletic department offices and meeting rooms, locker rooms, and classrooms for the campus community.
