Lauren Fitts joined the Mustangs as a graduate assistant coach in 2016 following a decorated playing career at GPAC rival Dakota Wesleyan.

Fitts, a 2016 Dakota Wesleyan graduate, ranks as one of the greatest golfers in the history of the GPAC as a four-time GPAC individual medalist and four-time GPAC Women’s Golfer of the Year. She led the Tigers to four GPAC championships and four NAIA National Tournament appearances. Her best finish at the NAIA National Tournament came as a junior when she finished 15th in the individual field to earn all-tourney honors.

She carded a 69 at the Heritage Classic in Louisville, Ky., as a junior to tie the Dakota Wesleyan 18-hole scoring record and also tied the Tigers’ 36-hole scoring record with a 146 at the event.

Fitts was a five-year letter winner during her prep career at Brookings High School, where she helped lead the team to South Dakota’s 2009 Class AA state championship. She finished sixth at the state tourney as a junior and eighth as a senior.
