Todd Sapp took over the Mustangs' men's and women's golf programs as head coach in August 2008.

Sapp helped lead the Mustang men to a NAIA National Tournament appearance in 2010 and to GPAC runner-up finishes in the 2009-10, 2012-13, 2016-17 and 2017-18 campaigns.

Sapp was named the 2017-18 GPAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year after he guided the Mustangs to the GPAC title and the first conference championship in the history of the program. The GPAC crown earned the Mustangs their second appearance in the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship in a three-year span. The Mustangs won six tournament championships to go along with three runner-up finishes during the 2017-18 season.

Sapp was named the GPAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year for the first time in 2015-16 after he guided the Mustangs to a second place finish in the GPAC standings and their first-ever national tournament appearance as a team at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship. The Mustangs won six tournament championships during the 2015-16 campaign, including two of the four GPAC Qualifier tourneys. Sapp's Mustangs also finished as the GPAC runner-up in the 2016-17 season.

Sapp is one of the top amateur players in the Siouxland area with an impressive resume that includes over 50 tournament championships. Sapp is a five-time Jividen Cup champion as well as a three-time Rivercade, Nebraska Governor Cup champion, and Sioux City men's city tournament champion. He is also a past Iowa Lake Creek Amateur and a Nebraska Open Amateur winner and has been the city champion in Sioux City and Lincoln, Neb. Sapp has also participated on both the Nebraska and Iowa Amateur State Cup teams.

Sapp designed and constructed Whispering Creek Golf Course in Sioux City. Whispering Creek hosted the 2006 and 2015 Iowa State Amateur and was named the Iowa Golf Association’s 2007 18-Hole Course of the Year.

He played collegiately at the University of Nebraska, where he graduated in 1983. He is a 1979 graduate of Sioux City North High School.
