Homecoming Visual and Performing Arts Alumni Events

Please join us for the following Visual and Performing Arts Alumni events during Homecoming Weekend 2018.

Morningside College Homecoming Alumni Choir
Sunday, October 14, 2018
10:00 a.m. – Eppley Auditorium

All Morningside choral music alumni are invited to participate in the Homecoming Alumni Choir. Joined by this year’s Morningside Choir, the mass choir will perform two choral selections at the Homecoming Worship Service at 10:00 a.m. This event is an outstanding opportunity for alumni to reconnect with old friends, meet other valued Morningside graduates, and make acquaintances with current students and faculty. One rehearsal will be held on Saturday, October 13, from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The selections for the event will be “Make Me an Instrument of Thy Peace” by Mary McDonald and “From this House” by Ben Allaway. Sheet music will be distribute in early-September. The choir will be conducted by Dr. Ryan Person.

President’s Alumni Luncheon for Visual and Performing Arts

11:15 a.m. – Helen Levitt Art Gallery

President John Reynders and the Morningside College School of Visual and Performing Arts are very pleased to invite you to participate in the inaugural President’s Alumni Luncheon on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at 11:15 a.m. in the Helen Levitt Art Gallery. This special event will take place during Homecoming Weekend and is open to all Art, Music, and Theatre alumni, as well as their special guests.

Limited seating is available and registrations will be prioritized in the order they are received.   

During lunch, President Reynders will make a special announcement regarding the inaugural Morningside College Visual and Performing Arts Culmination of Distinguished Achievement Award (CODA). The first recipients will be awarded at Homecoming 2019 after a thorough nomination and selection process. The CODA Award will serve as the highest achievable honor for Art, Music, and Theatre alumni, as well as past faculty members.


Homecoming Choral Concert

1:30 p.m. - Eppley Auditorium

You are cordially invited to attend the Morningside Homecoming Choral Concert. The performance will feature the Morningside College Choirs (Morningside Choir, Bel Canto, Singing Men of Morningside, and Master Chorale), conducted by Dr. Ryan Person, as well as the Westwood High School Concert Choir under the direction of Tom Gerking ’90. A valued alum, Mr. Gerking's contributions to choral music have been respected within his community and on a regional and national level for nearly thirty years. The performance will last approximately an hour and admission is free of charge. This is a concert you will not want to miss!
