Five days, ten colleges
Sample life at up to ten of Iowa’s 27 private colleges (including Morningside!) this summer during Iowa Private College Week.
You’ll learn about the colleges’ different academic and social opportunities, explore campuses, meet with professors and fellow prospective students, get the chance to win a $500 gift card, and tons more.
What's in it for me?
Joel Hoogland and Emily Greenlee both chose Morningside after participtaing in Iowa Private College Week. Here’s their story:
Joel Hoogland of Sioux Center, Iowa, is an incoming freshman at Morningside College who won a $500 gift card. He did all of his campus visits during Iowa Private College Week. He said he enjoyed being able to look at the different colleges with a group of prospective students.
“As you’re going around, people are saying stuff; you’re picking up on the things that they picked up on and they’re picking up on the things that you picked up on,” Hoogland said. “You’re kind of seeing it from all of the angles.”
Last year Emily Greenlee of Lincoln, Neb., was one of the freshmen at Morningside to win a $500 gift card. She said she had not been looking forward to Iowa Private College Week at first, but it ended up being a great experience.
“I liked it because I didn’t have time to forget about the last school I visited,” she said. “If I had gone to one school and then a month later visited another one, it would have been harder to compare. The most recent one obviously would have seemed like the best because that would be the most fresh in my head. So it made it a lot easier to eliminate some schools.”
She said she also enjoyed traveling from school to school with her mom.
“My mom and I are really, really close, so it was a good time for both of us,” she said. “We stopped in a couple of small towns just to visit, and we went to the mall and just hung out. We jammed out to oldies music in the car. It was a good road trip.”
